Hip To Be Square

by Kimberly Hickok

I’m beginning to notice a pattern. Every year – and I mean every year –when the leaves start to fall and I know that winter is just around the corner, I get inspired to create. I just want to sit and knit, crochet, sew or whatever.

I’m in the middle of a project right now and I am determined to complete it before I buy more new yarn. Who am I kidding? I know there’s no way that will happen because I am now smitten with the idea of making something, like a blanket or throw, with GRANNY SQUARES.
All my colors..pouf and cushions

There’s just something about granny squares that makes me smile although I probably won’t be smiling about halfway through this project. I hope I can ‘commit’ to this project – crocheting square after square, weaving in all those ends and then joining all those squares. I don’t know but I’m gonna give it a try.

I’ve always wanted to learn how to do granny squares!! I literally know one stitch!

Good luck on completion–you can do it since it is so portable! One block at a time!
