In March 2010, I started this blog. When I started I wasn’t sure if any of you were interested in what I have to say. Fast forward. You are! And many of you have asked about what I do for work, about my community involvement and my motivation and inspiration for Kimversations.
I’ll start with where I work. I founded my marketing company, Marketing Kangaroo LLC in 2016. Before that I was a Solutions Consultant for a web development company. I like to offer my marketing, public relations and advertising experience for local fundraising events and community projects.
One of my favorite local groups is Capital Roots. Their mission? To nourish healthy communities by providing access to fresh food and green spaces for all. I am so passionate about what they do that I sit on their board of directors.
I’m married and we have a blended family that includes our three adult children, a son-in-law and twin grandsons. My family is my pride and joy. I love to cook for them and it seems like we have a house full of family and friends all the time.
The motivation and inspiration for Kimversations| Food, Life & Living comes from what my family exposed me to. Nanna, my dad’s mom, was an awesome cook. She was ‘The Help’ for a well-to-do NJ federal district court judge and boy could she cook! My mom was always food curious, almost hippy-like in her quest to grow and prepare just about everything we ate. After being stationed in Japan, my dad brought his love for Asian food home with him. Dinner at our house was always a culinary adventure; one night fried chicken and collard greens (grandma’s heirloom recipe), the next night lasagna, the following night hand-rolled sushi. This was highly unusual in the 70s and 80s. For me, wholesome, self-prepared meals are not a part of life, they are a way of life.
These same women taught me to knit, crochet, embroider and all other things domestic – while working full-time and looking fabulous.
Kimversations, is all about sharing. Kimversations continues to be an ongoing conversation – sometimes I’ll share a conversation that I’ve been having in my head. Other times it will be a recipe or helpful tip. I’m a little all over the place.
Hopefully you now know more about me and you’ll continue to find Kimversations entertaining and informative.
Kim
