The biggest football game of the year is right around the corner and whether you’re a football fan or not, you will probably host, or be invited to a Game Day party. After that it’s all about March Madness so here’s your opportunity to be prepared for watching the game while doing some serious snacking.
One of our Game Day family favorites is my husband’s chili. I’ve posted this before but it’s just so darned good that I have to crow about it again.
Mark’s Chili serves 8-10 2 pounds ground beef 2 cups chopped onion 1 green pepper 1 jalapeno (optional) 3 cloves garlic, minced 4 tablespoons chili powder 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon paprika 1 teaspoon oregano 1 teaspoon ground cumin ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper 1 cup beef stock (1 beef bouillion cube in one cup hot water is fine) 1 28-ounce can diced tomatoes 3 one pound cans kidney beans (Mark uses dark and light kidney beans)Brown ground beef, discard the fat. While the beef is browning, cut up the veggies and toss into your slow cooker with the seasoning and beans. Add browned beef and stir until combined. Cook on low 8-10 hours or on high for 5 hours.
To make it special for Game Day, you can set up a chili bar complete with sour cream, grated cheese, chopped jalapenos and scallions so everyone can add whatever they want to their bowl of chili.

I love chili and this would be the perfect crowd pleaser!
I love the sound of this chili and the chili bar is such a great idea! I am hosting a Super Bowl Eats and Treats Linky Party, and I would love if you would link your recipe up. You can link others as well, and as many as you like. They can be appetizers, desserts, crafts, party ideas, sandwiches, anything that says “Super Bowl” to you! We’d love to have you! http://www.thefreshmancook.blogspot.com/2014/01/super-bowl-linky-party.html
Thanks Teri! I’m off to a chili cookoff and hope to add my link later. Thanks again for the invite! You’ve got a really great selection already added and my mouth is watering!
