I have a huge creative streak that needs to be filled. As much as I love my job as a salesperson, it doesn’t always fill that need. So to feed my soul I have a lot of creative activities that I like to do – cooking, knitting, gardening, etc.
I guess I have a little bit of artsy-crafty ADD.
So from time to time you’ll see posts about some artsy-crafty project that I’m currently fixated on. One of my current obsessions is knitting.
A few years ago, I decided that I wanted to learn how to knit. I tried it years ago but I’d pretty much forgotten how. So what did I do? I went to the Internet and googled ‘how to knit’ and found everything I needed to know. There are lots of great learn-to-knit sites out there. Just find one that looks like it will be easy for you to follow.
I already knew how to crochet and in the last three years I made each of our three children an afghan, and even one for a boyfriend of one of the girls. Some were crocheted, some knitted. Mark, my husband, kept saying that the next afghan should be his.
I wanted to surprise him but that was easier said than done especially since he works from home. Believe it or not, I was able to pull it off and he was totally surprised when I gave it to him this past Christmas.
I’ve been using the patterns found in Leisure Arts Big Book of Quick Knit Afghans –
Here’s the afghan I made for Mark –
