Review: Holman Pottery Omelet Dish for One

by Kimberly Hickok

Some people I know (ahem, my husband) think that I’m a difficult person to buy a gift for. Nothing could be farther from the truth. All I want in a gift is for it to have the three P’s. Ideally it should be Pretty, Practical and a Problem-Solver.

Enter UncommonGoods. UncommonGoods is a Brooklyn, NY-based business that carries products that are hand-made by artists and designers right here in the USA. About a third of their products incorporate recycled or upcycled materials AND they’re a company that believes in making sure that they’re making the world a better place. Awesome!

I’m getting a little ahead of myself. I should probably begin telling you why UncommonGoods is my newest favorite place to shop for gifts for my friends (and for me!).

Let me start by telling you about my problem. I love breakfast. Most nights I go to bed thinking about what I’m going to have for breakfast the next morning. The challenge is that Mark is NOT a breakfast guy – at least not at 7AM. I get up before him and I try not to make a lot of noise while I’m getting ready for work and making breakfast. I love eggs but he can’t even stand the smell of eggs cooking (or bacon, weird right???) first thing in the morning.

So how can I get my breakfast on without annoying my husband? That’s where my Holman Pottery Omelet Dish for one comes into play. It only took one day to arrive at my upstate NY home from Brooklyn. Bonus!

I love this packaging. "Creative Living Mindful Giving"

Inside my omelet dish awaits. The first of the three P’s is filled. It’s Pretty! Yay!

So pretty in shades of brown, tan and sage green.

This pottery omelet dish promises an omelet for one in – ready for this? 45 seconds. Seriously?? If that’s the case, then this omelet dish fills another crucial requirement. It’s Practical. The dish comes with the instructions ‘scramble an egg, add a pinch of salt and any ingredients you like. Pour into the dish and microwave for 45 seconds.’

After oiling my Holman omelet dish, I added scrambled egg, salt, pepper, some red onion and green pepper.

I microwaved a flour tortilla for 20 seconds, added my omelet and a little salsa and had a breakfast that I could take with me. It makes an omelet that will fit an English muffin or bagel perfectly.

Cleanup is easy. The omelet dish is microwave, dishwasher and oven safe.

So this dish is pretty, practical and solves my breakfast omelet problem. It’s the perfect solution to the little bits of cooked veggies that you have left over from the night before. Simply chop and add to the scrambled egg. Easy peasy. The Holman Pottery Omelet Dish for one retails for $25.00.

Most of  my friends fall into the same category that I do. We love unique items especially if they solve a problem, are pretty and are practical too. Check out UncommonGoods for yourself to find home & garden, dining & entertaining, personalized items and more.

Disclosure: This is a product review. UncommonGoods sent me a complimentary Holman Pottery Omelet Dish. I do not work for UncommonGoods and have not received any other compensation. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
