Our friends Don and Ellen had us over for brunch on New Year’s day. Don makes an absolutely fabulous Bloody Mary. It all starts with his Bloody Mary Mix recipe. Mark and I both agreed that we needed to get his recipe so we could try making it ourselves.
Don gave us the recipe which he got from some guy who had it written on a napkin. No lie.
The photo is a little hard to read so I’ve typed it up for easy reference.
Don’s Bloody Mary Mix Makes a about a quart and a half, 48-ish ounces 1 – 32 ounce bottle of Clamato juice 10 ounces of beef consomme 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce 1/4 cup A-1 1 teaspoon celery salt 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning 1 tablespoon of horseradish 4-5 drops of TabascoMix it all up together and then taste. You can adapt the recipe for your own taste by increasing the amount of celery salt, Old Bay, horseradish or tabasco.
For guests that prefer a virgin, or alcohol-free drink, this is perfect. For those that want vodka, take a 16 ounce glass, fill 3/4 with ice, pour in the mix and add an ounce (a shot) of vodka.
Don adds a special ingredient to each glass.
This mix is great because you can make a pitcher of it in advance and guests can serve themselves. We are definitely adding this to our recipe collection. You should too!
