I am loving my brand new work space. Most of the time I’m working at my big table top. Here’s a view of what’s growing on, yes I said ‘growing’ not ‘going’, at the end of my desk.

Basil leaves have such a distinctive shape. I think it’s so interesting that the first set of leaves look nothing like the mature plant.
You’re probably in awe of my high end mini greenhouses and planting pots, right? We buy a lot of baby spinach and spring greens. These plastic containers are perfect for creating little mini greenhouses for your seedlings. Egg cartons work really well too. Use the cardboard ones. They’ll biodegrade when you transplant the seedlings.
Where I live, it usually isn’t safe to plant anything that can’t survive freezing temperatures until after Mother’s Day which is in just a few days. I’ll start putting the seedlings outside for a few hours each day to ‘harden’ them off so that they don’t suffer from transplant shock.
This year I’m trying a few new things in the garden – cauliflower, tomatillos, cilantro and sweet potatoes. Fingers crossed!
