Spicy Grilled Broccoli with Garlic

by Kimberly Hickok

A few years ago we invested in a grill with five burners, rotisserie attachment and a side burner. The goal? To prepare entire meals outside on the grill.

A family favorite is my spicy, garlic broccoli. You don’t need an exact recipe – just slice the broccoli lengthwise 1/4″ thick. Just cut up the amount your family will eat. Then place on a large sheet of foil, add 2 or 3 cloves of thinly sliced garlic, and a lot of red pepper flake. Drizzle with olive oil, close up the packet and cook on the grill until tender -about 20-30 minutes.

This shows you how I slice the broccoli. If you aren’t crazy about red pepper or garlic, no problem. Just keep it simple and drizzle the broccoli with olive oil & sprinkle with salt and pepper.

The best part about this recipe is that you can adapt it to go with any meal. For an Asian spin, combine honey, soy sauce and ginger to taste and add it to the packet.

For a Mediterranean twist, open the packet *carefully* when the broccoli is tender. Add some grated parmesan and a squeeze of lemon.

Tender, grilled spicy broccoli with garlic. Yum!
