Overnight Apple Caramel French Toast

A recipe for Apple Caramel French Toast than can be made the night before. Perfect for breakfast or brunch entertaining.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 stick butter
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 apples, peeled and thinly sliced
  • ¾ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 6-8 large slices of Tuscan bread or 12-14 slices white bread
  • 5 eggs
  • 1½ cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions
  1. Combine brown sugar and butter in a medium saucepan. Heat until melted.
  2. Add water, apples and cinnamon. Cook until the apples are soft and the sauce is foamy.
  3. Pour into a 9x15 pan and let cool.
  4. Completely cover with bread slices.
  5. Combine eggs, milk and vanilla well. Pour over the bread, making sure to cover well.
  6. Cover pan with foil and refrigerate overnight.
  7. Bake 40 minutes at 350F.
