Brunch & Bloody Marys at The Dock at Crayton Cove in Naples Florida

by Kimberly Hickok

My husband Mark is a creature of habit. Mashed potatoes MUST be served with meatloaf. Lamb chops can have no other accompaniments besides macaroni and cheese and stewed tomatoes. So it goes without saying that our annual visit to Naples Florida to visit his mom must – and I mean MUST – include a meal (preferably brunch) at The Dock at Crayton Cove.

For the record, I am totally okay with this mandate.

The Dock sits right on the water in the ‘old’ section of Naples. If you’re lucky enough to have a boat you can even tie up right outside the restaurant. What we love about it is that it’s open. There are no permanent walls. Just plastic canvas that they roll up, or down, to let the ocean breeze in.

It’s not fancy but it’s delicious. I haven’t had anything on the menu that I didn’t like and if we’re in the area for more than three or four days, we make it a point to eat at The Dock at least twice.

Not to be missed is the Sunday Brunch.

Did you see the most important thing on the menu??? Just in case you missed it . . .

The Dock's Famous Bloody Mary Bar

If you want the Bloody Mary Bar, they give you a glass with your choice of vodka then you head over to the fixins. I am so gonna steal this idea for my next brunch. You can choose from tomato juice, bloody mary mix, clamato or V8. After that, your imagination is the only thing that can limit the way you customize your drink.

You can be traditional and just add a celery stick and horseradish or you can go wild and add your choice of stuffed olives or pickles or onions . . . you get the picture.

Okay, I know I’ve been fixated on the Bloody Mary bar. It’s fantastic but the food is delicious too! I’ve ordered just about everything on the brunch menu. This time I opted for the Yellowfin Tuna Nicoise Salad which is on their regular menu.

Mark got the Eggs Benedict. At The Dock they take a thick slice of sourdough bread and cook the egg right inside. Then they top that with a crab cake and Hollandaise. That’s served with hash browns and fresh fruit. My fork did find its way over to Mark’s plate. I did share my tuna with him to be fair.

I just love this place and highly recommend it. Have you been? What did you order? Where else has a great Bloody Mary bar? I am all ears!
