Summer Stitching

by Kimberly Hickok

I have been knitting and crocheting like crazy all summer long. I’m not sure why because I usually don’t do that much stitching this time of year.

Here are some of the projects I’ve actually completed (key word, “completed”!) this summer.

I knit these gloves for Amy’s husband. Made of 100% washable Merino wool.

Mark modeled the gloves for the pics. He loved them so I guess I need to make him a pair too. He said they’re perfect for fishing – his hands will stay warm and dry – but his fingers will be free to do work those fishing lines!

This bag I crocheted for Loren. I’ve been making them to sell in my Etsy shop and she asked me to make one for her in Jamaican colors. I think it turned out pretty cool! She uses it all the time to carry her art supplies and other miscellaneous college stuff around.

This is a baby blanket. She and her husband are expecting their first child and are decorating his room in brown, green & orange. I LOVE the color combination. This is a series of crocheted hexagons crocheted together to look like polka dots.

This closeup will give you a better idea of the colors and the random pattern. I had a lot of fun making this. It’s made of 100% washable wool so it is very baby-friendly.

I’ve got another belt to add to my Etsy shop and I’m also working on another pair of men’s fingerless gloves and an afghan. I’m not sure what’s gotten into me but it’s been a productive summer playing with yarn!
